The Eaton Cutler-Hammer EGS3040AFG Molded Case Circuit Breaker is a G Series completely assembled circuit breaker with a fixed thermal and adjustable magnetic trip unit that is used for circuit protection in a variety of low-voltage systems. This breaker, like every Eaton Cutler-Hammer Series G breaker, is designed around a space-saving footprint with field-fitted accessories, and it is HACR rated. The EGS3040AFG has a 3-pole design, with a nominal current rating of 40 Amps, and a maximum interrupting capacity of 35 kAIC at 480 Volts. The EGS3040AFG comprises an EG frame, 3 line and load side standard terminals, an operating mechanism, and a thermal magnetic trip unit which provides high-speed blow open action. The terminals is made of copper/aluminum steel and it is supplied with 3 terminal covers (one per terminal), mounting hardware, and a wire control wire for easy installing.
The EGS3040AFG trip unit is made of a fixed thermal trip element and an adjustable magnetic element that provide instantaneous trip action when the line current exceeds users’ designated value and this magnetic trip element can be adjusted from 5 to 10 times the nominal rating to accommodate a variety of applications. The EGS3040AFG has an operating mechanism which is capable of preventing the contact from closing during overload, and if the breaker is tripped, it can be used to reset breakers contacts. It has a designated ambient temperature limit of 40 degrees Celsius, above which the carrying current begins to de-rate, and it is also designed to be used in an environment within a 0 to 95% non-condensing relative humidity range. The EGS3040AFG is designed with IEC, UL, and CSA certifications and it is shipped with an average weight of 1.36 kilograms (3.0 pounds).
