About the MDL3800F

The MDL3800F is a Series C M-Frame Cutler-Hammer thermal magnetic circuit breaker with an interchangeable trip that is manufactured by the Eaton Corporation. It is rated at 600 Volts AC or 250 Volts DC maximum, 50 to 60 Hertz frequency, with 3 poles, 300 Amps of continuous current at 40 degrees Celsius, and it features an interrupting capacity of 65 kAIC at 240 Volts AC, 22 kAIC at 250 Volts DC, 50 kAIC at 480 Volts AC, 25 kAIC at 600 Volts AC. The MDL3800F circuit breaker weighs 11.793 kilograms. It is built to offer many years of maintenance-free operation while providing control as well as protection against short circuits, overloading or excessive currents for different devices. The MDL3800F thermal-magnetic circuit breaker has a shunt, adjustable magnetic, and thermal magnetic tic trip options and it can be mounted on a DIN rail or a panel board. It features copper clamping screw terminals on both the line and load sides and it does not have a neutral pole.

Each of the 3 poles available on the MDL3800F thermal-magnetic circuit breaker features an adjustable thermal trip unit that can be easily manipulated to the desired setting with a screwdriver and the color strips on the throw switch handle also indicate the state of the circuit breaker. The MDL3800F thermal-magnetic circuit breaker is easily reset after a trip-out by moving the handle to the extreme position after the off position and periodical tests can be done with its push-to-trip button to ensure that the trip capability is functioning properly. It takes about 5 minutes off for the thermal element of the MDL3800F circuit breaker to cool before resetting after it trips and it is important for the users to identify and rectify the problem that caused the trip before closing the circuit. Note that exposure to corrosive chemicals can deteriorate the line and load terminals of the MDL3800F circuit breaker.
