The Eaton LD4450 is an LD type of circuit breaker with an L Frame. It is a complete breaker with a built-in magnetic–thermal trip unit which is non-interchangeable. The load and line terminals which are made of aluminum are supplied with the LD4450. The current rating of the LD4450 is 450 Amps continuous. The voltage ratings of the LD4450 are 250 Volts DC and 600 Volts AC. The interrupt capacity ratings for the LD4450 are 22 kAIC at 250 Volts DC, and 65, 35, and 25 kAIC at 240, 480, and 600 Volts AC, respectively. The dimensions of the 4-pole breaker are 273.1 x 279.4 x 103.1 millimeters.
The installation of the LD4450 consists of the breaker inspection, and the subsequent installation of the rating plug, accessories, and terminals, the mounting of the breaker, connecting line and load conductors, torquing the terminals, and attaching the terminal shields. With aluminum wires are used as conductors, the use of joint compounds is recommended to reduce the possibility of terminal overheating. The installation of the internal accessories should be done before the breaker is mounted and connected. Before the installation, the nameplate, the date of the breaker should be compared with the system requirements to ensure that the breaker is suitable for the intended installation. During the installation and any subsequent maintenance efforts, the LD4450 must be kept in the off-state to prevent any potential injury for installers. Even though circuit breakers are designed for years of trouble-free operation, periodic inspections of the LD4450 should be carried out to ensure that the breaker performs according to the specifications. During the inspection, the LD4450 should be switched off.
