The Eaton LD4400 is a 4-pole circuit breaker. It is an LD type breaker rated at 400 Amps, 600 Volts AC, and 250 Volts DC. The interruption capacity specifications for the LD4400 are 65 kAIC at 240 Volts AC and 35 kAIC at 480 Volts AC. The breaker is designed to support 50 and 60 Hertz frequencies. The LD type circuit breakers are 600 Volts AC maximum rated devices with interchangeable thermal-magnetic or electronic trip units rated at 600 Amps of maximum continuous current. The LD4400 comes in an L Frame. It is a complete breaker and it includes an integrated and non-interchangeable thermal–magnetic trip module. The aluminum line and load terminals are part of the circuit breaker. A joint compound is recommended to be used with aluminum conductors to avoid the risk of terminal overheating. The original electrical clearance and creepage spacings should be maintained at terminations. The dimensions of the L-frame LD4400 are 10.75 x 11.0 x 4.06 inches.
Because contact with energized electrical equipment can lead to death, severe personal injury, or substantial property damage, all the installation and maintenance-related activities for the LD4400 should be performed with the breaker switch in the off position. It should also be ensured that voltages are not present in the work area. All generally accepted safety procedures should also be followed. As the LD4400 is certified under the UL standards, and internal accessories are installed at the factory and after that, the breaker is sealed. The installation of accessories in the field is permitted in areas where the local codes permit it.
