The Eaton Cutler-Hammer KT3175T is a 3-pole trip unit designed to be used with K Frame Molded Case Circuit Breakers from the C Series. It is a protective device with not too many elements, but it features the latest innovations that bring reliability to molded case circuit breakers. The module is engineered to be a cost-effective solution that eliminates hazards from short-circuits and overloads. The KT3175T is a thermal-magnetic type of trip unit that has a nominal current of 175 Amps. It is widely applied in the electrical installations as a protection device that is linked to virtually all industry fields. The Eaton Cutler-Hammer KT3175T has a maximum voltage of 600 Volts AC. This trip unit features an adjustable magnetic trip on all 3 poles in 5 to 10 multiples of the nominal current. The magnetic element adjustment is performed by rotating the adjustment buttons on the front side of the device with a screwdriver.
To install the KT3175 in the MCCB base, the users must remove the cover of the circuit breaker. Do not perform this action nor any of the following while the device is energized. Note that this protective cover can only be removed when the handle of the circuit breaker is in the trip or the off position. After the trip unit is positioned and screwed inside of the circuit breaker base, the first checking procedure includes moving the handle to the reset position and then moving the handle to the on position. If this mechanical movement check is finished successfully, then the users can activate the push-to-trip button with a screwdriver. If the handle goes to the trip position, then the installation procedure is finished, and the users’ circuit breaker is ready to be used.
