The GD3100 is a Series C G-frame molded case circuit breaker manufactured by Eaton Cutler-Hammer. This circuit breaker has two-pole or three-pole variations which are the most common types of trips. Single-pole circuit breakers have current ratings from 15 to 20 Amps with fluorescent lighting and an applications switch that is heavy-duty rated. Along with other circuit breakers in the series manufactured by Eaton, the GD3100 is also HACR-rated and compatible with reverse feed use. The interrupting capacity rating of this circuit breaker is the UL 489 interruptive capacity rating which ranges from 65 kAIC at 240 Volts AC at 50/60 Hertz frequency, 22 kAIC at 480 Volts AC at 50/60 Hertz frequency and 10 kAIC at 250 Volts DC. There are two types of terminals available – line terminals and load terminals.
The GD3100 is designed with a plated steel terminal with a slotted screw head type, a copper/aluminum wire type, an AWG wire range of #14 to 10, and a metric wire range of 2.5 to 4 millimeters square. The GD3100 is built with 100 trip Amps which protect electronic appliances from an excess flow of electrical signals. The time constant for this type of molded case circuit breaker is a minimum of 8 milliseconds. However, these sizes are not listed in the UL. The maximum continuous current rating at 40 degrees Celsius is 22 kAIC at 480 Volts AC. With a wide range of available capacities, easy accessibility, and easy usability, the GD3100 performs top-notch control functions in the molded case circuit breaker field.
