The HFD3040 is a Cutler-Hammer 3-Pole Type HFD molded case circuit breaker manufactured by the Eaton Corporation. It belongs to the Series C F-frame family and is rated at 600 Volts AC or 250 Volts DC maximum voltage, 65 kiloamperes interrupting capacity at 480 Volts, a 30 Amps trip current, and 50 to 60 Hertz frequency. Its dimensions are 3.8 x 4.13 x 4.1 inches and it weighs 1.973 kilograms. This circuit breaker features magnetic, non-interchangeable, and fixed-thermal trip capabilities, and it can serve main or branch circuit protection against overloads, short-circuits, or fault currents for a wide range of industrial electrical equipment such as motor controllers, motors, and other loads within its power rating.
The toggle type switch of the HFD3040 circuit breaker provides both simple switching operations and indicates whether it is tripped, on, or off based on its position. Its high performance and fast circuit breaking capability improve safety and it features 3 terminals each for load and line terminals. The glass-polyester enclosure of the HFD3040 circuit breaker protects it from moisture and the growth of fungus so it can be used in the different field and industrial environments. When the HFD3040 circuit breaker trips due to overload or from some other fault in the circuit, it remains tripped (mid-position) until it is manually reset and then turned back on again. While installing the HFD3040 circuit breaker, it is essential to tighten all its terminals properly because leaving any of its terminals loose can cause overheating which could, in turn, lead to frequent trips, malfunction, or damage.
