The Eaton (Cutler-Hammer) FDC3015 is a thermal-magnetic circuit breaker from the C Series. This device can work with voltages of 600 Volts AC or 250 Volts DC. Its tripping value cannot be readjusted because this is a circuit breaker with non-interchangeable trip units. The current rating of the module is 15 Amps. If higher currents than this are flowing through the device, it will cut off the current flow (mechanically). This device has terminals only on the load side. The FDC3015 molded case circuit breaker is engineered to provide years of almost maintenance-free protection for electrical circuits. It is appropriate for protecting motors and drives and for applications that require high current switching capabilities. It is a cost-effective protective solution against ground fault conditions and short-circuits.
The Cutler-Hammer FDC3015 provides a fast reaction to short-circuits. To do this, the device uses an electromagnet that has a winding that is in the same series as the load current. When an excessive current flows through the circuit (and through the electromagnet) it causes the magnetic field to increase rapidly and to mechanically open contacts for current conduction. The item weight is approximated at 1.95 kilograms (4.3 pounds). Mounting hardware and unmounted terminations for this circuit breaker are sold and delivered in separate packages. There are 2 elements that can make the device go into the trip position – thermal and magnetic trip units. Users must perform the resetting of the device to put it back into operation after it trips. Note that if there was a thermal trip, the FDC3015 circuit breaker cannot be reset unless the thermal element has properly cooled.
Manufacturer Part Numbers (MPNs) are often difficult to read. Here are some commonly mistaken versions for the FDC3015:
