About the FDC2030

The FDC2030 is a current limiting circuit breaker from Westinghouse/Eaton. The breaker has 2 poles and its trip unit trips when the current exceeds 30 Amps. The FDC2030 has an F frame type and it accommodates terminals on the load side only. The FDC2030, as with all other Eaton circuit breakers with an F frame type, is HACR rated. Being a 2-pole circuit breaker, the FDC2030 has a width of 2.75 inches a height of 6.0 inches and a depth of 3.38 inches. The Cutler-Hammer FDC2030 molded case circuit breaker is purposely designed and manufactured to offer protection to industrial systems that use low voltage. To protect the circuit breaker against fungus, the case is molded from a mix of glass and polyester which also keeps moisture away.

For parts in the FDC2030 that are not factory-protected against moisture, special treatment must be provided if the circuit breaker is to be used in environments that are susceptible to the build-up of moisture and fungus. The FDC2030 employs the use of a thermal magnetic mechanism in its trip unit. The interrupting capacity for the FDC2030 stands at 200,000 Amps at a voltage range of between 220 and 240 Volts AC and 22,000 Amps at 250 Volts DC while at 480 Volts AC, the FDC2030 has an interrupt capacity of 100,000 Amps. Note that these interrupt ratings apply both for the UL 489 and the IEC 157-1 standards. For the FDC2030 to operate as required, like with other circuit breakers from Eaton, a temperature at or below 40 degrees Celsius must be maintained around its operating environment.
