The FDC2020 is a Series C molded case circuit breaker from Cutler-Hammer. The FDC2020 has 2 poles and its thermal-magnetic tripping mechanism trips at 20 Amps. The trip unit for the FDC2020 is factory-installed with no option for replacing it in the field. Therefore, when the trip unit malfunctions, the entire FDC2020 circuit breaker must be replaced. The circuit breaker has 2 poles and as with other Cutler-Hammer circuit breakers, the FDC2020 can be used for reverse feed use and it is suitable for use in High-Intensity Discharge (HID) applications. The Eaton FDC2020 circuit breaker meets a host of standards including for the International Electrotechnical Commission, the Japanese T-Mark, South African Bureau of Standards, and the Underwriters Laboratories (UL 489) standards.
Under the UL 489 rating, the FDC2020 has an interrupt capacity rating of 200K (symmetrical Amps) at a voltage of 240 Volts AC and a frequency ranging between 50 and 60 Hertz. The FDC2020 features terminals on the load side only. The operating temperature for the circuit breaker is rated at 40 degrees Celsius. Being a molded case circuit breaker, the FDC2020 is guarded against mold build up. The Eaton Cutler-Hammer FDC2020 thermal magnetic circuit breaker, having non-replaceable internal components, should be regularly monitored by manually testing the trip unit to see if it is operating as required. Some of the signs to look out for include a discolored and molded case and rusty load side terminals. Additionally, the trip unit should be checked for any delays during a tripping event.
