The Westinghouse FDB4100 is a Series C complete circuit breaker. The breaker is suitably conditioned to provide protection to circuits powered from a 3-phase power supply. The FDB4100 is of the FDB type. The breaker has a thermal magnetic trip mechanism and a non-interchangeable trip unit. The circuit breaker protects its internal components from moisture by the use of a molded case manufactured from glass polyester. The glass polyester is also resistant to fungus buildup. However, the internal components are not moisture or fungus-resistant. The Westinghouse FDB4100 has an amperage rating of 100 Amps and a maximum voltage rating of 680 Volts AC. When protecting a DC powered circuit, the FDB4100 is not rated for voltages above 250 Volts DC. The circuit breaker features load side lug terminals and it has 4 poles.
The short circuit breaking rating for the Westinghouse FDB4100 circuit breaker stands at 18 kAIC at 240 Volts AC, at 14 kAIC at 480 Volts AC, and at 10 kAIC at 250 Volts DC. The FDB4100 is compliant with the UL and the CSA standards. The Cutler-Hammer FDB4100 is HACR rated. By being factory sealed, the circuit breaker is suitable to be used for reverse feed use. At 250 Volts DC, the FDB4100, as with other FD Type circuit breakers from Eaton, has a minimum time constant of 3 milliseconds at 10,000 Amps while at 22,000 Amps, the FDB4100 circuit breaker has a minimum time constant of 8 milliseconds. Note that DC ratings apply to substantially non-inductive circuits.
Manufacturer Part Numbers (MPNs) are often difficult to read. Here are some commonly mistaken versions for the FDB4100:
