The Eaton FD4080 is an 80 Amp rated, F-Frame, complete FD-type circuit breaker. The FD4080 has four poles. It includes both line and load side terminals which are made from steel. Either copper or aluminum wire should be used for termination on the breaker terminals. The recommended cable size range is between #4 to #1/0 AWG. Use of an appropriate joint compound is recommended with aluminum conductors to prevent terminal overheating which can lead to breaker damage and spurious tripping. The FD4080 uses a non-interchangeable magnetic/thermal trip management module. The FD4080 can be used for reverse feed applications and is also HACR rated. The current rating for the FD4080 is 80 Amps. The voltage rating for the FD4080 is around 600 Volts AC or 250 Volts DC. At 250 Volts DC, the FD4080 is rated at 10 kiloamps interrupt capacity. At 480 Volts DC the FD4080 is rated at 35 kiloamps interrupt capacity and at 600 Volts AC it is rated at 18 kiloamps interrupt capacity.
During maintenance and installation, the FD4080 must be in off state to avoid the possibility of injury or death. Installation of any accessories should be done before circuit breaker installation and mounting. Depending on requirements, the FD4080 can be mounted differently. Termination on the breaker can be done once the breaker has been properly mounted. The FD4080 has dimensions of 152.4 by 139.7 by 86.0 millimeters. It has an approximate weight of 2.7 kilograms.
