The Eaton EDB2225 is an ED type of complete circuit breaker with 2 poles, a 225 Amps current rating and 22 kiloamps of interrupt capacity at 240 Volts AC. The voltage and frequency specifications for the circuit breaker are 240 Volts AC or 125 Volts DC and 50 to 60 Hertz, respectively. Specifications for the EDB2225 should be compared with the system requirements before the installation of the circuit breaker is performed. The F-frame EDB2225 is designed for reverse feed use and it is also rated for HACR. A non-interchangeable trip module of magnetic thermal type is supplied with the breaker.
The EDB2225 has an approximate weight of 1.4 kilograms. The dimensions of the circuit breaker are 152.4 x 69.9 x 85.7 millimeters. Aluminum terminals should be used with the EDB2225 along with aluminum or copper #4 to 4/0 AWG conductors. Overheating the terminals can cause spurious breaker tripper and damage to the breaker. Therefore, it is recommended to use a joint compound with aluminum terminals to prevent the terminals from overheating. The periodic inspection of the EDB2225 should be carried out to ensure performance according to the specifications. During the inspection, the breaker mounting hardware should be checked and tightened if it is found loose. The area where the breaker is installed should be checked for safety hazards including fire and personal safety hazards. Terminals and connectors should be inspected for signs of potential overheating and looseness. Terminals showing signs of overheating should be cleaned or replaced. The base, cover, and handle of the breaker should be checked for cracks and chipping.
